Welcome to RR Lyr wiki page
The present wiki web site is intended to promote the collaborative work among variable star observers in the frame of the GEOS RR Lyr Survey.
RR Lyr wiki, like the RR Lyr data base, is hosted by Laboratoire d'Astrophysique de Toulouse-Tarbes, part of Midi-Pyrénées observatory in Toulouse.
Administrator:Jean-Francois Le Borgne
We are using the wikipedia look and feel template for dokuwiki: people who are accustomed to the free on line encyclopedia will feel at home.
The site has two main parts.
- The first one is a “knowledge base” which is foreseen to contain articles about theory and practical of, not only variable star science, but also astronomy and astrophysics in general. The aim is to share our knowledge which might be useful to other members of the group for our activities.
- The second part is a data and analysis repository. This last part is the one which mainly justifies the present site. By allowing people to deposit data files and edit articles/comments in common might be a way to energize our group and make the production of results and analysis more efficient.
Anyone whose access is granted by a password is allowed to edit and create articles. He/she can also upload measurement files. The idea is to share knowledge, data and analysis in view to eventually produce scientific papers on a “best effort” basis.
Editors are requested to “sign” their entries by including the dokuwiki signature at the end of the sections (click on the “insert signature” button of the editor. When somebody makes a major contribution to an existing section, he is requested to add his/her signature to the existing ones.
The access of the site is restricted to people who have requested a user/passwd id. There is the possibility to open editing to a restricted list of people and open the reading to everybody. For the moment it seems preferable to restrict all access to only granted people. It is not necessary to recall to respect the writings of colleagues. If you suspect an error (or even if you are sure of), please contact the author of the mistake. As part of the dokuwiki interface, there is a “discussion” tag in which one may initiate or contribute to a discussion about a given article. If an editor wants to advertise his new entries, a possibility is to send an e-mail on the rrlyr mailing list. You also can subscribe to a RSS feed by clicking on the corresponding button at the bottom of this page. Also useful might be the button there which links to dokuwiki home page where one can find documentation about it.

Astronomy and Astrophysics
Astropedia
“Astropedia” is a neologism which is already used by people but it sounds nice and suggests exactly what it is supposed to be. The aim of this “knowledge base” is not to replace existing on line encyclopedias but rather to make a complement to them in the field we are concerned with. links to wikipedia, scholarpedia are encouraged. As well links to review papers would be useful, in particular in astro-ph. astro-ph also have lectures/thesis which are worth to quote.
Bibliography
In the bibliography page we give references to books dealing with astrophysics and astronomy. Also are referenced review and fundamental papers on that subject.

Variable stars
The present section concerns data analysis of variable stars. It includes a link to a list of current paper projects. Each project might be summarized and points to a page where one find details of the data analysis and interpretation. The second link point a list of stars which have been observed and for which a short analysis is summarized or requested. One may for example create an article including only a data file and request for an analysis. People who upload data are requested to identify them self in the article concerning the given star as well as authors of comments should do.
An editor willing to produce a paper is requested to contact the authors of the observations and of the comments to propose co-authorship.
Data analysis and paper projects
Stars
Here we list the stars observed by the GEOS RR Lyr survey contributors. It includes the understudied RR Lyr stars observed by individual observers. Data of variable stars observed by TAROT telescopes in the fields of the RR Lyr star program are also included. It concerns various type of variable stars, eclipsing binaries, cepheids, LPV …

RR Lyr star elements and ephemeris
Elements
The following file contains a list of linear elements of RR Lyr stars deduced from observations of maxima during the last 7 to 10 years. They are supposed to be applicable only for present time maximum prediction and do not pretend to modelize period behavior on long time scale. The file contains the elements of 347 stars for which observations have been obtained by GRRS observers. In the “ref.” column, a ”-” means that the elements have been computed, otherwise, if elements existed and are style valid, the reference of these older elements are given. Most observations habe been obtained by the Tarot telescopes with the contribution of other observers. When Tarot telescopes are not involved, the observers are quoted.

Editors and Friends
This link points to the list of the editors and people who contribute to the GEOS RR Lyr survey, and GEOS in general.
This other link points to a descrption and history of the telescopes involved (or was involved at a time) in our work. Each contributor is encouraged to make his own entry. Photographs are welcome.

Languages
English is the default language of the site but a certain number of languages are foreseen. Every body is encouraged to translate the pages. If you want to add a language, please contact the administrator Jean-Francois Le Borgne.
The translations are accessible by clicking on flags at the top of the pages. If the translation for a given page is not available, it is up to you to make it
. Though English is the default language, it might be possible that someone want to initiate a page in another language. It is not sure this is foreseen by the wiki software: the minimum would be to create an english page with just a title and a warning.
